Table Mountain from the air

This time last year we made a small error...we booked a summer trip to South Africa, to Cape Town and the Garden Route. Some of the more perceptive amongst you will realise the error, it was winter down there! This year we've done better, we're off to Japan in September.

But, you gotta hand it to them, the weather was fantastic. The highlight for me, certainly photographically, was a tour in a Huey helicopter around Table Mountain

Can someone explain why there is a freeway flyover which stops in mid-air in the centre of Cape Town?!

The other highlights were shooting whales and the inevitable safaris. But for stock guidebook stuff, you have to hand it to this classic "responsible tourism" image of the penguins at Boulders Beach. Watch your toes though, we got pecked through the decking on the way around the boardwalk!
